This townhouse is situated on a beautiful landmarked block in Bedford-Stuyvesant. The house was completely gutted and structurally reinforced. A new deck and opening on the rear allows for more light and a connection from the kitchen to the exterior. The second and third floors have been thoughtfully reconfigured to include a primary suite with a den, two children's bedrooms, and a spacious laundry room. Great care was taken during the gut renovation to preserve and restore existing historic elements. New finishes, and cabinetry complement the historic texture provided by the original moldings, shutters and doors.
Doors, mouldings, shutters, and newel post were restored. A classic checkerboard marble tile was installed in the entry vestibule. A vintage Louis Poulsen light hangs above the new mirror-lined arch.
Vintage funiture rests in front of the original fireplace in the dining room.
The kitchen is clean and pared down so as not to compete with the historic detailing.A new door in the kitchen leads to a deck.
The primary bedroom has ample space for a sitting area.
The bathrooms are clean and classic.
